You're stranded on a desert island. List the one story you'd want with you (with links, if you've got 'em) for each fandom you consider yourself active in (max: five fandoms). If you're a monofan, then pick five stories in your one fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] aralinde has written a lovely Brad/Jones story (from the movie All I Want, aka Try Seventeen) that everyone should read. It's called Almost a Smile, and it's beautiful and sparse and evocative and...yeah.

Encourage her to write more, okay? It would make me happy.

First Against The Wall by [livejournal.com profile] vegetariansushi
Dom/Elijah

Everyone should read this; it's a beautiful, introspective piece that looks at the inevitable unravelling of a relationship between two people who are just too different.

I just rec'd Void over in [livejournal.com profile] thespecialhell. If you want to know more about what it is and why you should read it, go look over there; it's not f-locked. I'm too lazy to repeat it all here. *g*

If you haven't read [livejournal.com profile] esorlehcar's Ricochet, you should. Now.

Even if you don't normally read Billy/Elijah (I don't). She's a great writer, with a fabulous grasp of Billy and Elijah's personalities (and, by incidental mention, Dom's as well), and the story is nicely realistic.

You probably already know this (as always) and just haven't bothered to mention it to me (as always), but:

Part Six of Calico's "Blood Oranges" is posted and

[livejournal.com profile] abundantlyqueer has a new A/U Orlijah series starting (set in [livejournal.com profile] crazybutsound's London Calling universe), called Ice Age.

That concludes your PSA for the day.

Viggorli recs for [livejournal.com profile] laylah_r, because we loves her, my precious, yes we does.

Mister Cellophane: A Song For You by [livejournal.com profile] hackthis.

The Muse of Lost Things by Untitled_ZeroSix. Hauntingly beautiful and evocative prose. Wow. Also, the follow-up: Artist/Muse.

Half Open Door by Dale Edmonds is a gorgeous Viggorlijah voyeurism and fucked-up-ness. Mmmm.

For something a little different (namely OB/HW), there's Masterclass by Gloria Mundi ([livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria).

And then there's Negative Polarisation by Marymeg. It's genderfuck monkeycrack. Really. But it's also teh funneh, so it's possible to get past the crack-ness, I think. Warning: Not high art. *g*

ETA: Mustn't forget [livejournal.com profile] viva_gloria's The Very Secret Diary of Captain Jack Sparrow. *g*

* * *

Of course, now that I've finished reading "Mired in Middle Earth," I'm much less pleased with it. That'll teach me to rec things before I'm done with them, eh? It was such a cool premise; I'm just disappointed with the way it was handled. *grumble*

Off to work on "Circle Jerk" and the new series that is pestering my brain...

Recs

I've been reading [livejournal.com profile] shaenie's oeuvre and found that (as expected) I liked Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk (yay for Lolijah! *g*). I also really liked her two het(ish) stories featuring Miranda Otto, Gorgeous Bastards and Shield Maiden of Rohan.

I need PotC RPS recs now. Really I do. Anyone?
and_chocolate: (Default)
Attention [livejournal.com profile] laylah_r! The final part of "See Under" is up! But then, you probably knew that and just failed to tell me. Wench.

More recs 'n' stuff, based on what we talked about yesterday:

That huge A/U-ish story I was telling you about (and that I'm still not quite done reading!) is Mired in Middle Earth by Elanor. Occasionally flawed, but such a great concept that I really like it anyway.

The celebration of Billy Boyd's Scots brogue (reading the Wellington phone book) is In Which Billy Boyd Says Stuff by Honey. Pure silly fluff.

And that "Dom meets Johnny Depp at the Bloomingdale's makeup counter"? That would be Eyeliner by Uluithiel. Wide open for a sequel [hint, hint], if Uluithiel was okay with that. [eg]

And lastly, I think we should create a LJ community called "thespecialhell" for posting RPS and other Special Hell-worthy fic... What do you think? Wanna be a mod?

Rec 'o Day

Not that there's going to be a rec every day, and not that they'll be new to anyone who's not new to LotRiPS fandom...

In fact, lets just say that this is pretty much a rec specifically for [livejournal.com profile] rivetcat and be done with it.

[livejournal.com profile] shaenie's Cusp. It's not perfect, but I think you'll like it. There are more stories in the Convergence Series, not all of which I've read yet, but I also recommend Convergence itself. Of course, I think I may have a slight Elijahkink, so keep that in mind. *g*
