Mardi Gras pics and movies and stuff

I wanted to also point out that Elijah was noticeably a) drunk, and b) getting off on the crowd reaction. He was being tremendously theatrical, reminding me (unsurprisingly) of Sir Ian with grand flourishes to his movement.

And after it was over, I realized I was an idiot. Instead of hanging out at the end of the route (which was near my hotel), I should've started at the beginning of the route and followed the float. Duh. I am obviously a bad stalker, as I fail to grasp one of the main connotations of the word "stalk." *sigh*

Okay, the movies are:
Elijah's float coming down the street and
the beginning of Elijah's musical number (before the people in front of me started holding up signs and screaming so you couldn't hear anymore)

They're zip files, so you'll have to download them to your own computer to play them. (I like my bandwidth the way it is.)

Pictures:

Mmmmmm. Also, anyone who can identify (from what little of the label we can see) what kind of beer Elijah is drinking (before tomorrow?) wins a virtual cookie and my undying gratitude. Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] libitina, I'm looking at you!

Now if only tomorrow goes as well, what with the meeting Dom and everything.

Also, I noticed that one of the two doubloons I got commemorates Elijah as Bacchus XXXVI. *g*

*is being irretrievably fangirly*

Thanks for posting these. =) I was wondering, if you don't mind, if I could either a)post a link to these or b)upload them to my own server and share. Credited of course. Thanks again.

(I, on the other hand, was really wanting to kill the two drunk guys who were yelling, "Hey, Frodo!"
Death sounds about right to me.

I wouldn't do it either, thought did sound tempting. They were probably just sad because they want some Frodo lurve. :-D

How could one man wear that much brocade and not be classed as.... Oh, wait. Never mind.

He's adorable, and it sounds like you're having a blast. I can't wait to get the extended version of all the stories when we're back in the same time zone again. (And good luck at the party tonight!)

I am researching as quickly as I can. It doesn't (or maybe does) help that the label apparently comes in two pieces and, except for maybe where he is opening it, he is carefully only displaying the back (damn actor training).

I'm sure my boss will love coming by and seeing me perusing beer labels at work. "It's just research, really."

(Oh, and I want you to know that you're my hook for tonight. *g* "My friend was going to come with me, but she was in a car accident a few weeks ago--she's fine, but her car was totaled--and so she couldn't afford it. But she gave me some money and asked me to buy you guys a drink on her behalf." *g*)

That's lovely!

(And was just wondering what kind of beer you were handing out. Is it a local product? You know, the Shiner Bock out of Texas is quite nice... Have you tried it? It's brown and has flavor, but isn't all that bitter.)

DUDE! I am brilliant!!!

Go read here.

And to mix all my fandoms to hell, Stella Artois ties in with Highlander fandom because Peter Wingfield did ads for them a few years back.

my hook for tonight

Of course, if I were there, I would be all geeky and ask whether it was dangerous assigning them characters with related mythologies. After all, shouldn't Bacchus' fan girls rip Orpheus limb from limb? Then I would expect them to look at me blankly and laugh politely wondering what sort of weird fan girl I was, anyway. Either that or they've already heard that question a thousand times.

I am so excited. (research high) I hope the party tonight is fun.

Of course, I was all impressed with how erudite he was in some interviews a while back, and then after seeing half a dozen done at about the same time, I realized that he was using the same answer (with minor modifications) to several related questions.

He has been privately tutored... I would guess he has some good (Monarch notes level) insights into some texts, but whether you actually catch a subject/text he knows would be rather spotty.

Now Viggo Mortensen or Billy Boyd (or Ian McKellen, Christopher Lee of course... and perhaps even Orlando Bloom)? I'd be disappointed if they didn't get it.

I don't want to be the only one looking like an obsessive fangirl
Highly Unlikely

But, yeah, you definitely want to look suave. *grin* Did you remember to have something with you to get autographed? (Or would it have to be another tattoo?

Talking out my ass

[personal profile] libitina 2004-02-23 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
ACK! You've found me out. Those were my general impressions. Unless they've been magazines that were prominently displayed in the news store in the train station, I haven't been keeping up with the interviews and bios. Bugger... Now that my ignorance has been proven, I have so much more research to do. Damn you! And, yes, I am researching Dom now like a demon to see any reference to chocolate. So far, just a liking of beer and good food.

I king of like Caught with your research down. I have no idea, however, what picture you would put with that. Well I do, but I am hoping.... well, just hoping.

HAH!

I have a guess!

There is a Pelican brewing company in Louisiana. And since there appears to be a pelican in the upper left of the label, that's my guess.

*happy research dance of glee*

And this website had a review of the Pelican Louisiana Amber Lager: Lager? Naa. I'd say it's a flat red roast with just a hint of carbonation. No foam - no joy. Watch out, or you might find yourself asking for a straw... (but it only got one minus sign -- maximum of three)

The company does not seem to have a website and is not even listed on most listings (short listings) of breweries in Louisiana. The one that did list it, called it a contract brewery... I guess primarily for tourism and large events like Mardi Gras.

That's my theory of his taste in beverage. Except that I think he might have learned at least about cheap whiskey.

[identity profile] undone27.livejournal.com 2004-02-23 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That what Elijah is drinking is a Shiner Bock. Austin Texas, man.

Hey, thanks for linking me back to your clips, may I pimp them? Plz?

Sweetass. I am hella jealous of anyone who got to go to Bacchus. I'll be at the TORN party next week, so I guess that makes up for it, but I'm pretty sure I won't get serenaded with songs from the D there. Hahaha. Thanks again. Shall I credit you?
