Fic and New Orleans Insanity Updates
Okay, first the fic stuff:
I don't know that I'm going to have Stop, Rewind, (re)Play done by tomorrow. Most people are going to be like, "What? Who the fuck cares?" but I promised
libitina that I'd get it done for her birthday and I'm not so sure anymore. Fifty lashes with a wet...Elijah? No, I didn't think I'd get off that easy. Mea culpa. I'm working on it, but I'm a little stressed right now and I'm going to go outside for a calming cigarette as soon as I'm done with this entry.
Next, New Orleans:
When last we left our intrepid heroine, she had discovered that she could not, in fact, afford to go to Mardi Gras for the sole purpose ofstalking seeing Dom and Elijah, because she could not get anyone to go with her and share the cost of the (very reasonably priced, considering) hotel room she'd found.
Well, I still can't afford to go, but the fucking travel agency lied to me about the hotel reservation (which was not supposed to charge to my credit card until three days before my arrival, because I was supposed to be able to cancel up to that point with no penalty and after that point by paying for one night's stay), and now the hotel's charged me for one night already and tells me that I have to pay the whole thing, whether or not I show up.
So I have a choice:
Pay $650 I can't really afford to sit at home and think about the fact that I could be in New Orleans, having a blast.
Pay $1200 I can't really afford to actually go to New Orleans and have a blast, and worry about the money later.
Hmmm. I think it all hinges on a couple of phone calls tomorrow, but I'm kind of leaning toward to actually enjoying my tremendous misspending of money. (And I will never trust an unknown travel agency again. Never. Bastards.)

You've got a deal, sweatheart. I'm still going to work on the story (wrote two paragraphs while standing out on my front step freezing my ass off and smoking, but then my fingers got too numb to write *g*), but if I go I'll certainly try for an autograph or two. And photos. Lots and lots of photos. *g*
(Love the icon, BTW!)

I have been waiting, however, for you to ask me about the source for this one I made.

Well there's a simple reason why I haven't...because I hadn't seen it until now! So where'd you get the source for that? Hmmm?

Darn these foreign actors, with their foreign films and their gorgeous accents and...what was I saying?
reprieve
Re: reprieve
*headdesk*
And I still don't know what's happening with Mardi Gras, because the guy from the travel agency hasn't called me back (I think I'm going to put them down as a lost cause) and the woman from the hotel isn't in today. On the plus side, the deadline for tix to the party was only for Krewe members, so I'm good. *sighs*

(See, now that I know who you *are*...I'd love to meet up!!!

Arriving the afternoon of the 22nd, leaving the morning of the 24th. Staying downtown, about a block from the convention center. (And I've got this whole hotel room to myself, so I'd be more than happy to put you up, if you wanted to come and stay... *g* The more the merrier!)
Re:
I just checked..so you're leaving the morning of Fat Tuesday???

I'm not meeting up with anyone; I'm going to be all by my lonesome.

I have to. Long story. I'm lucky (or something) to be going in the first place. Heck, I'd resigned myself to not going, until it became a matter of having to spend a bunch of money for nothing, or spend twice as much and actually go.
Re:
you're going to a ball, any specific parades? and how can you just fly to a strange city all by yourself to party (i'm such a loser, i know, but that'd never occur to me :-)

Message me on Yahoo and we'll talk.

Well, I hadn't been planning to do it by myself. I'd actually given up on the idea of doing it at all, until the hotel were jerks.
